My Story as a New Author
As a stay-at-home mom and a very new children’s book author, it’s been a challenge to find a balance between work and housework and parenting and being a wife and being my own individual person apart from all of my other jobs and labels.
I think writing has always been an outlet for me. Writing for my children and for the enjoyment of other families has brought me a whole new level of purpose, validation and accomplishment. I love exploring my children’s imaginations and watching them play, and I try to envision the world through their eyes, trying my best to remember what it was like to be that age.
I hope my writing cannot only inspire young minds, but will also help connect parents and caregivers like myself and my husband and so many of my friends. Parenting little ones can be very isolating, so finding a voice of your own - as I have found through writing - is a comforting outlet.
When I see moms creating businesses like the mom on TikTok with her Get My Pink Flamingos Back, it reminds me that there are so many moms who experience exactly what I am experiencing. I hope that I can be a reminder to them, just as the flamingo lady is for me.
